WiLL BECKERS - Art in Nature Artist
Will Beckers is an Environmental artist known for his site specific installations and nature based sculptures, often referred to as Land Art or Art in Nature.
Working as both sculptor and architect of Nature, Beckers crafts his installations out of natural materials and sustainable metal constructions.
His natural installation work invites the public to interact and experience the artwork, involving the visitor and thus inspiring a reaction.
Beckers specializes in creating site-specific natural installations that explore our relationship with the natural world. His projects can be found in public spaces and invites the public to interact and experience the artwork, involving the visitor and thus inspiring a reaction.
Beckers’ Environmental artwork often takes the form of a bio-sculpture, or a growing organism that stimulates us to challenge the relationship between individuals and our environment, he is confronting Nature with her own materials.
Time and continuity are key elements in Will Beckers’ art. The material that he brings in grows. It follows the rhythms of the seasons. His projects are always a long-term investment, but ultimately they are also sensitive to impermanence. “My work is about showing the transience of life and the regeneration of our Natural World”
During the process of creation, a metamorphose occurs. At the beginning of the process, the environment determines the nature of the sculpture, when the work is complete, the sculpture has changed the environment. A new meaning has been added to the surroundings.
“As a child, I was fascinated by deviations or oddities in Nature that I discovered through photography and drawings. I think this was a decisive phase for discovering my passion. Metamorphosis in Nature became a barometer for further exploration.”
